The air is crisp. The breeze tickling the fallen leaves, making them to dance like a ballerina along the winding path. The path moves along, winding and rolling through the forest maze. It is lined with trees robed in majestic colors. Fiery red, luscious orange, bright sun kissed yellow, and dark rich green.
The sun slowly drops behind the western sky wanting to leave his impression on the valley as well. He paints the sky with a splash of colors; fiery reds, burnt oranges, soft purples and deep blues span the sky as dusk falls. A soft cool mist settles in the valley like a furry blanket on a soft bed.
You can almost hear Mother Nature whispering softly, to the creatures, a quiet lullaby as dusk begins to fall.
As I walk, my breath is now a visible soft mist. It’s chilly. Just chilly enough to cause my lungs to tingle as I breath in the night air. The breeze tickling my cheeks, teasing me with its soft cool touch. I pull my jacket around me a little tighter, holding onto the last bit of the days warmth. I long to be home lounging on the couch, wrapped in a warm blanket and sipping hot cocoa.
Yes, it is Autumn, in all it’s splendor and beauty. My favorite time of year.
