Character: Lugabrich (loo-ga-brick) noun. A large reptile like creature with wings and a long tail; a cross between a human and reptile. A peaceful nocturnal creature.
The Lugabrich hovered and soared over the valley, searching the darkness for a place to hide. The warm breeze lifted her high into the starry sky. Anxiousness pressed her to find refuge in a crevice or under the forest canopy. The creature’s massive leathery wings beat down the air as she held her position, ready to dive at a moment’s notice.
Lugabrichs were creatures of the night, with stony gray leather-like skin. A long mane of rusty brown hair grew from the top of their head cascading down to their shoulders. Tufts of the same color grew on the backs of their hands and tops of their feet. Other than that, their bodies were bald, muscular, and rough.
Longer than average muscular arms extended from broad shoulders. Three razor sharp claws protruded out from hairy wrists, while two prong-like claws extended from stumpy legs. Meanwhile a long serpentine tail trailed behind, extending nearly one and a half times their length. They used the tail mainly for protection against predators.
Their appearance spoke of impending doom but they were peaceful, mournful creatures. They spent their days in solitude, buried in their own despondency. At dusk and well into the depths of the night, their moans, groans, and howls were heard throughout the valley.
Malistasia was an oddity for a Lugabrich. While most remained out of sight during the day, she took great pleasure in exploring the valley. She glided just above the tree line, doing her best to remain undetected, while taking in the panoramic views and savory smells. Which is why when night came, she almost always fought back anxiety while trying her best to get home before her parents woke to find her out and about at forbidden times again.
