“You see that star on the left? Not the bright one, no, the one with the softest glint. Make a wish.
I’ll throw a lasso and pull it down for you. Just you. Shower it with your love and beauty. Your beauty to help it shine brighter. A smile to dance gaily to. Your heart to provide warmth and a song to encourage its twinkle.”
With that, he threw his lasso with a power and precision not seen before. It stretched and it reached, higher and higher. The rope unraveled as the lasso flew onward. Higher and higher, into the endless night sky.
She marveled at its seeming endless length as it reached farther and farther into the night.
Eventually, it stopped. The line cinched taut. Its course true.
With wonder and awe, she watched him pull, slowly at first, the end of the rope. Each successive heave brought the little star closer to their perch.
The star did not resist, twinkling softly a sad unfortunate song. Its light fading, as it mourns forlorn.
She cups her hands to receive her sad gift. Her radiance beams and she makes a wish. It wasn’t a grand wish, of riches untold. Nor was it a selfish wish. Her wish, was her own. A secret of sorts. Her star catcher knew just what she desired most.
She kissed the star with delight, a divine shower indeed. Then she smiled the coziest smile, one ever did see. The warmth of her love brought the star back to life. He danced the daintiest dance and twinkled with glee. Its light beamed brighter than any of the brightest stars above.
With all its might and newfound glory, it leaped from the lasso up into the sky. From across the galaxy a new light appeared. It shined quite deliberately from a little star gleaming.
It shed its brilliance on a star-crossed couple sitting hand in hand in the midst of a meadow on a high mountain perch. A star and a wish on the end of a lasso.
